I have autometer gauges in my truck, which I have really enjoyed. Problem - after about a month, the boost gauge hangs up on zero after it has sat there for any length of time. Then it will suddenly spring too life and start working. I know it is the gauge because I took it off and tested it with compressed air. Same results. Anyone else experienced this?

cjohnson,

I`d call Autometer and ask for another gauge. It should not be malfunctioning already. You don`t have a kink in the tubing anywhere? They are not cheap gauges either. I have ordered an Autometer 0-35 PSI Ultra-lite 2 1/16" Boost gauge also.

This happened on the boost gauge I got with my Banks kit. I noticed that after the cab got hot is when the malfunction occured. It was an ISSPRO guage but is not marked. Ordered another ISSPRO guage from Rick's RV and same thing. The explanation is on the guages: Made in INDIA. Check to see where your Autometer guage is from. It is hard to find precision small guages for vehicle use. I would expect to have to pay $100 for a good guage accurate to 1% of full scale. Does anyone know of such guages? I don't mean the same cheap guage movements with better looking bezels or faces, I mean an actual instrument quality small guage.

Must be low quality gauges. Mine is ISSPRO and it has stuck at zero since day one. Once get about ten pounds of boost it un sticks until next time.

I had an ISSPRO that stuck like that too. When the temp was below about 20 degress it would NEVER move. Scheid shipped me a new one 'under warranty'. This ones worked great for close to two years. 0-50 lbs. I'd recommend the 50 lb gauge just in case you ever get in a BOMBing mood.

I also had an ISSPRO that read about 6 lbs low consistently. Had that replaced too.
Kinda makes you wonder if you ever actually know what you're real boost level is doesn't it? If I didn't have a previous gauge in that truck I wouldn't have known it was faulty (was converting from a 0-30 to a 0-50).

I have ISSPRO and haven't had any problems, other than the one I caused by having a poor seal at the gauge. Once that was corrected it has worked okay. Hope it continues to. If it acts up, I'm going to request a no-cost replacement.

My 2 week old Autometer Ultra-Lite water temp gauge started acting up. Needle would stick @ 140 degrees, then pop up to 180. I`m pretty certain its reading the interior temp of the cab. It only happens when is HOT out and truck has sat all day.

Of all the gauges to start malfunctioning, Its got to be this one. Pulled it out this morning. 90 mins work! 12' probe w/ 7/8 hex nut that needs to be snaked back up thru the dash.

I was SCREAMING!

cjohnson, I had the same problem with my AutoMeter pyro. The needle was sticking. I sent it in to them and they sent me a new one. I ended up paying a small charge. I think it was for the shipping, but it was COD, so be prepared to handle it when UPS shows up at your door. They didn't tell me, and I had to get a money order, so the UPS man had to come back the next day.
