My wife told me today that the truck was hard to drive on "bouncy" roads. She said the bumps made her bounce on and off the "go" pedal, which made the truck lurch around.

We all know that the more the wife likes the truck, the more money we get to spend on them, so I'm asking any of you who have had a similar problem--especially you off-roaders

Is there anything you have done to make the "go"pedal less responsive? A heavier spring, maybe? or some sort of dashpot?

Any help appreciated, as always.

The best way to fix your truck is a lift kit! get one that give you new springs!! Like Sky Jacker 4 1/2!!! #ad
It also make your truck look good!! If you tow a 5th wheel than you might have a problem!! LOL!!

Tell her to do what I do. Rest your foot against the transmission hump and touch the go pedal with the left side of your foot. This helps by giving your foot something to brace against. Not 100% but it helps.

I put an extra spring under the plastic cover on top of the pump. This helped a considerable amount. When I first got the truck, I had to just idle when pulling wagons out of the field or the truck felt like it was going to break something as it lurched around. Hope this helps.

It goes with the territory. The only thing I know is what TX-DIESEL said. Had the same w/ Ford gas & psd 4x4's and chebby 4x4's. Truck goes up while you go down, You go up and truck goes down, even worse when racing moto cross bikes on their tracks.

I've had the same problem, especially when I retrieve our camper from the ungraded RV storage lot. Usually I just let the truck idle in 2nd or 3rd gear and go slow. It makes me wonder how anyone can do any serious off-roading with one of these. I assume the problem is from all of the low end torque.

I just came home from a week in the mountains, driving old logging roads, etc. I have the same problem every time. Texas Diesel has my solution... I'm not sure if my mods have made this more noticeable or not, but til ya remember to rest the foot, it is irritating.

Rob, the mods definately make the situation worse - they make your throttle MUCH more touchy. I do like the others here said which is to rest my foot against the transmission hump with my heel on the floor - it helps to stabilize for sure. I also turn off my box if I'm going to be doing any really rough off roading (like crawling over boulders) or when I need smoother throttle control (like when I crawled up a shale rock surface wheeling in the Smoky mountains). I have also added a return spring to my throttle to help with exhaust brake activation (I use a microswitch at the throttle) that has helped some as well.

I noticed on my last truck, a 2000 3500 5spd, it did the lurching on any rough road, especially at low speeds, like going down the alley behind my house. Very rough alley. My new truck did not seem to do any lurching until I added the DDII's. I also am thinking about adding a new throttle return spring to lessen the condition. Both trucks are 2wd.
