I still have not hooked up my transmission temp gauge. I just am not to sure on where the sensor should be. .

Give me some ideas guys. I would like to get this think working, now that everything else is working great(knock on wood)

If the 12V is the same:

On the R/H (passenger's) side of the engine is the first of two transmission oil coolers. The one located on the engine is a liquid-to-liquid cooler. The line located closest to the firewall is the one you want.

Hope this helps.

sensor

I just baught a new PTO cover from the dealer $6. 00. I welded a 1"x 1" square by 1/4" thick piece of steele on the back side at the bottom and I am going to drill and tap it tomarrow then paint and install.

Should work good,

You could also order a pair of those coolers that replace both PTO covers, and one already has a place to install the sending unit.

Hope this helps

Scott,

Of the 2 lines coming/going into the transmission you want the front one. The one that goes to the water cooler under the exhaust manifold.

I taped mine in just past the transmission on pass side. took the line to local hydraulic shop and had them fit in a "t".

Seems there is a TDR dealer with a kit for taping in at the transmission connection also.

If you're thinking pan or in the line, do the line as you'll get the real temp your TC is running at.

hope this helps

temp gauge

i bought an auxilliary filter and base from jcwhitney. i mounted it in the supply line to the fluid to air cooler line. the unit had a port for the temp gauge which came with the unit. so far working great. nice to have an external filter to change periodically, also.

temp gauge

i also remember a thread sometime ago mentioning that the cooler line from a '94 ram had a temp port in the supply line to the cooler. several folks have ordered the line and replaced theirs on the later year trucks. somebody correct me if the year is not correct???

Scott, was tiring to figure out how your automatic had PTO covers. Now I realize you are talking about a manual. Think this thread is aimed at autos. :)
