Well I've had the new truck for 4 weeks and have 2050 miles on it. I've hauled a load from OH with a GCWR of 18,600 lbs. (made this trip many times w/ my '99) and am very satisfied with the 6. 7/3:73 , 6spd. manual combo. The new engine is much more responsive and pulls hard. The oil is as clean as the day it was put in and the tail pipe has absolutely no soot in it. I'm glad I waited to update this year, instead of buying a dmax last year.

The oil comment is interesting..... I can remember the days when the 325/600 guys were stating how quick the oil turned black immediately after an oil change (not as much of a problem on the 305/555's either).

Enjoy the new truck !

That is interesting how clean the oil stays on the 6. 7. My 05's oil turns black within a minute after changing.

Grizzly,

I have pics of truck, but can not figure how to post them. As I said I'm computer challenged. Any help ?

jmores, Click on Go Advance, Then Browse, then Pick a picture that has been reduced to about 244 x 182 or maybe a little larger. Try for larger and the system will tell you if it's too large then reduce it more. Then click upload, then Submit Reply. You have to have a program to reduce the picture size. There are also help guidelines on here that are helpful. Do a search here to fine photo download procedures. I hope someone will kick in here with better procedures then I have stated. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can tell you more.

Hello Jim,

How was the MPG with that load?

Just got back from a run to Mississippi yesterday. The mileage going up there carrying a 10,800 lb scrubber, 4 ft in dia. with a lot of pipes sticking out everywhere, on my trailer, which weighs 7,600 lbs, and got 9. 8 mpg going up there, 550 miles. Coming back I averaged 12. 3 mpg. The mileage is coming up as I get broke in. Total miles on the truck is now 18,706.

EB how fast does your oil soot up after a change? Maybe with the new emissions equipment the 3rd injection pulse has been reduced? The oil on my '03 would stay clear for a long time.

It doesn't soot up as fast as it did with the 03 truck I had, but with 3800 miles on the oil it has turned dark, not black, dark. Also, you have to remember I have no ULSD in my area. I have run only 11 tanks of the ULSD in almost 19k miles. That will probably make a difference.

This is peculiar. . . I would've expected the EGR feeding some exhaust gas back into the intake would result in faster oil sooting. Maybe these new "smog" motors will prove themselves after all and Cummins knew what they were doing ;)

So EB does that mean that you have been running LSD 500PPM the rest of the time? Does your truck have the DPF in the exhaust? I was under the impression that you had to run ULSD in the 6. 7

That's what it means. I really doubt if the fuel is still 500 ppm at this time since most of the oil companies have not made any LSD since June, but that is what the sticker says on the pump. Like I have said a number of times, there is none within 87 miles of me, if I want to work, I have to use what's available. Yes, my truck has a particulate filter.
