Had my first oil change done today and the reflash. Truck really stinks now. If stopped it is terrible. Never had any ordor since new but this sucks. I have heard of people having problems with fumes in the cab and figured my truck was fine. I had the windows tinted today also so I couldnt roll them down. At stop lights my eyes actually burned and I was getting a headache and feeling sick. I turned off the vents which helped some but I am not not to thrilled about this. Seems like a real health issue is you ask me. Anyone else get this after having an oil change?

TFerrari: That is a part of the Cummins Ownership Program. I have a 2nd Gen and a 3rd Gen and both smell after oil changes. You can try a different brand of oil..... I use Delo 400... . as it apparently related to the composition of the oil that our trucks require. On the 2nd Gen trucks, you can extend the breather down and back. I am not sure how the 3rd Gen's could be modified.

Smell

This apparently has been a problem for several years. What I did, and it solved the problem, was take 6' of 1/2" fuel line, 4' of 3/8" fuel line and a plastic "T" that I got at the auto parts store. It has a 1/2" at the bottom and a 1/2" and 3/8" across the top. I plugged it into the oil breather pipe and routed the small hose forward to just shy of the fan, and routed the bigger hose rearward to under the bed. This keeps the hose from plugging up, and routes the fumes rearward. I was at the dealer last week, and they said they have a new item you can buy to add at an oil change that suppresses the fumes. I didn't check. Rotella allegedly smells the most. For me, the smell would last for the first 500 miles or so after an oil change. D/C should step up and solve the problem, but ... .

Well thats a nice option. How long does it normally last. Sounds more like a defect and a health hazard to me. I rode two stroke snowmobiles and this seems to be ten times worse. I never get sick of two stroke in the morning but my wife will not be liking this and either to I. You would think it would be something DC would be trying to fix. I smells more like exhaust then burning oil.
