Stock 2003 48re Lockup?

I have a stock 2003 Dodge HO diesel with 48re trans. and 6mo or so ago when taken to Dodge dealer for warrantee repair the PCM board & wiring harness were replaced because of problems. The repairman down loaded new software for the new board and now I don't have 2nd gear lock up. When I talking to the dealer they told me it was loaded with 05 software and I couldn't get it changed back to having 2nd lockup. Has anyone run into this and what can be done, as I tow a 5th wheel (around 11k) in the mountains and the lockup WAS great. :confused: :confused: :confused:

Last time I checked the 2003 had the 47re not the 48re. The 48re came out in the 04. 5 trucks with the 325/600 motor. I don't know why they would flash your trany with 2005 software.
 
The '03s were equipped with the 48RE transmission in combination with the HO engine (305/555) which became available after Jan 1, 2003. :)

My 03 has a 48re and has a jan build and its a 235 hp cal. emissions truck.

If you want 2nd gear lock up add a mystry switch.

If you do that it wil even lock in 1st if you want it to.
 
I did try the mystry switch off of pin 11 orange with black strip wire from c2 of PCM board and it didn't work. It caused the truck to go into limp mode, but thanks for the try.
 
I just installed the ats co pilot, and the ats valve body. It works great. you have to have the ats valve body and a hd torqe converter to get 1st and 2nd lockup. How did you get 2nd gear lockup on stock your 48re? I thought it would only lock in 3rd or od above 50mph.
 
To get lockup in 2nd gear, the selector has to be in 2nd gear. It will shift from 1st to 2nd and then lockup up at around 28 mph.



Like Dale said, it's real nice to have pulling a trailer and I use it around town alot. I'd really miss it.

A stock 48 re will lock up in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th with a mystry switch and the shifter in drive or over drive.

But you need a tourqe lock box or you will set codes and fail safe.
