According to the September issue of Diesel Power (Don't ask me why they sent me the September issue in July) on page 186, the stock 5. 9 made 269 hp at 2,550 RPM and 594 lb-ft of torque at 2,300 RPM. The 6. 7 put down 259 hp at 2,850 RPM and 487 lb-ft at 2,750 RPM. More power at less RPM's. I'll stick with my 5. 9!

Are we to believe that an engine rated at 610 lb/ft put 594 lb/ft to the ground?

3% driveline loss? I'm from Missouri on that one.

I agree that is a very small loss. I was just posting their numbers and looking for comments. I am sure they will receive a bunch of letters in the mail and will probably respond to them in next months issue.

The 6. 7 is still the best air freshener you can get!( just kidding) I am not sure but I don't think the torque numbers are affected to the same degree as h. p. on driveline loss ?????? Any body ????

You didn't say which 6. 7 they were testing. In the pick ups they are rated at 350 hp and 650 foot lbs. In the cab and chassy they are derated to 305 hp and I'm not sure of the torque. I had an 06 and believe me it pulled hard but pulling the same loads, my 6. 7 and six speed transmission blows it out of the water. I'll take my 6. 7 any day over my old 5. 9.

The 6. 7 was a megacab SRW.

I am looking at my dyno sheet and I put down 304hp,306hp and 310hp (without filter). Over 600 ftlbs. Stock truck. 60k miles with a 5600. 48deg air. 325/600 5. 9 truck.

will say the same as I said on other site BULLSHIRT it's all a bunch of words to claim that the 5. 9 isn't the little brother on the block is all . Not that the 5. 9 isn't a good motor but move over little brother the big Man is in Town . besides you can't takethere word on everything they say cause it's not done to please anyone but themselves :-laf

I wouldn't put much faith in one of those auto journalist magazines. The bottom line is most of those guys are journalists first, auto enthusiasts maybe.

One of the trucks may have been a poor example of the product and one truck could have been in a lower gear providing more torque multiplication through gearing.

Is there any other threads where this can be posted.

Yes it is true, I posted this 4 times between multiple site's, looking for opinions and responses. I guess it worked since in less than 24 hours over 2000 people have read the thread, and there are close to 100 responses. Sorry if I exasperated you with it!

But everything I have heard about the 6. 7 in regen is that it is sooo much more powerful and runs like a scalded ape...

As far as I can tell with mine since I don't have an edge to tell me when it's in regen, is that it runs much better after towing heavy. I would assume that it would not be in an active regen after a long heavy tow, also the exhaust brake works much better after a long trip.

I haven't mentioned, that there is a big difference in power from my 06 that I traded in, verses my 08. My results are not quite the same as diesel powers:-laf.

I think if you put a dpf on the 5. 9 it would lose a fragrance contest in GQ magazine when tested against the 6. 7. The 6. 7 smells great. Mine smells just like a lemonade stand. Just having some fun w/ you guys!
