Hi, just woundering is there any advantages in taking out the air box collar on the fenderwell? I had a Mustang 5. 0 and there was an (air silencer ) that hooked to the stock are box in the fender well. That thing was a restriction so they were the first things to go. I have an AFE PG7 drop in filter in it right now that replaced the K&N that was in it when i bought it :D

you could take that out and swiss cheese the bottom box of the air filter to increase it's ability to suck in air.

Yes, removing that plastic part makes a big difference. Before removing mine, even with the PG7, I could easily pull the filter minder to the bottom. After removal, even trying, the FM stays at 100%. I'm not sure more holes would do much more.

Thanks for the info :) if i ever get rid of the air box i was thinking of a BHAF with heat sheald and outerwears cover :D

Using the dyno, I found the air box with collar removed was fine up to 500 hp. Even if the filter minder was pulled down, I didn't gain anything removing the hose from the filter box. The collar can collapse and seems to restrict air flow.
