Anyone have a stock air box without any extra holes for a 98. 5? I would like to have one to put back on when I have to go to the dealer so they won't try to kill my warranty.

TIA

Why would they try to void anything? I have had mine with a BHAF in the shop a few times and all they say is that that looks pretty cool, and wanted to know the filter numbers so they could tell others about it.

What is it going in for??

YES, they can

Not to sound too pessimistic, but yes they can void your warranty for "alterations" to your intake or exhaust. It is clearly stated in the owners manual but many dealers apparently will overlook mild BOMBS;) . I think if your truck is in for something un-related to your air intake, you probably are OK. Don't get me wrong here, I've altered both [intake&exhaust... need to update sig. ] but the only time my truck EVER went into a dealership was for the "clockspring" recall. I like it that way:D . Have fun, Jim G.

RBSOB,your dealer cannot void the warranty because of a BHAF or anything else, unless it can be proved that it was the cause of the failure. An oil sample from an independent lab would quickly end any blame shifting,if it didnt seal, and the motor went bad, then it could void it,but if its filtering godd, the warranty cannot be voided legally. Any decent dealer shouldnt care if we make changes to the air cleaner or exhaust on the CTD,they should be looking for fueling boxes, which do and should void the warranty.

Snowman, I agree, from what I read, most dealers do over-look intake and exhaust mods. Thats why I think Wayne has no worries if his truck is in for something un-related. But my "yes they can" comment comes from memory of reading the manual. I'm pretty sure, and I'll look again, that they state such modifications are a violation of Federal emmission standards and do void warranty coverage. I will look into it Sun. AM, getting late. Have Fun Jim G.

RBSOB,Your absolutely right, defeating any emissions device is a big no no,but on a 24 Valve, there is no Cat,and there is no EGR ,or thermactic air cleaner similar to the old gassers,so you are defeating nothing. If you were to remove a Cat,or defeat an EGR valve, and it were found it could lead to warranty denial,if the dealer wanted to make an issue of it(not likely).
