Yesterday i was dumb enough and lazy enough to take my truck through a drive through car wash. After checking the clearance and asking a worker if my truck would fit I decided to go ahaead. Well everything was fine until the air dry on the way out.

About 10 seconds int o the dry mode i see my bug guard fly off and to the ground. I get out and grab the guard, which was scratched and scuffed beyond repair.

If it was a factory bug guard the car wash place should replace it. All the car wash places around me cover any factory part, nothing aftermarket.

Leave it off. Those things don't work anyway.

Opinions are like a... oh you get the point. I like the way it looks and it was cheap, hence I'm getting one on my '05. I will also wash it myself as I don't trust those automatic car washes!

Nope, not yet... I'm trying to go by the 'watched truck never arrives' philosophy. :p The thing you have to remember, though, is that the early orders won't really be here much quicker because they didn't even start up the assembly line until middle/late July from what I hear.

They are down in Mex next to the Gulf, exposed to the salt air,for who knows how long. No wonder guys are getting them with rust on all the unpainted components.

Dually car wash

You should've gotten a Dually... then you can't give in to the temptation of going through a car wash! ;)

I have taken my dually through 2 of the touchless 'laser guided' car washes. One in San Antonio, and one about a mile from my house. Both are close, but with some jockeying to get lined up, they work. Interestingly, they both have limited egress involving a curve just after you exit, so I have to jockey some more in order to leave.

I guess it's ok if you like the frilly stuff. If you want to look like a real truck get a Ranch Hand front bumper. Solves the bug problem too.

Actually I like the DOR and UTE better, and they'll match my frilly bug guard while supplimenting the seriously beefy look. Plus they weigh half as much, which is important since I plan on a 12K winch up there too. :)

I think the bug gaurd works great (for me atleast). I also usually wash my own truck, but with the new all cloth car washes, my truck will be seeing them all winter long.

As posted earlier, I would talk to the car wash place, as they should replace your $90 bug gaurd, seeing how it was factory installed.

I dont think the stock guard works that great, but it came on the truck. I like the looks of it, but im not gonna pay to have it replaced. If the car wash manager ever calls me back ill see how that goes.

I usally wash it myself but like i said i got lazy. Ive been through the same car wash twice before and had no problems.

The service guy at the dealer said hes had one other customer who had the same problem. He was not able to warranty it though. If the car wash place wont pay for it ill fight the dealer to get it replaced.

The dumb thing is held on by those stupid platic push through screws.

Same thing happened to me. I bought some new replacement fasteners at AutoZone and just put it back on. That dryer puts out some serious air. Mine really wasn't scuffed much so I didn't worry about it. Hey, it's a truck. :D
