The MN chapter of the TDR had a dyno day about 2 miles from my house, so I couldn't pass up the chance to see what it would do. This was a Dynojet.

258 hp, 477 torque

#ad

3. 73 gears. Comletley stock. 1430 miles on the truck, it hasn't pulled the trailer yet.

I was told that 70/30 blended fuel production starts OCT 1 in Minnesota. My mileage dropped by about 10% when I filled up Monday and it felt like the power was down a bit too, so I am pretty sure that I got the Winter blend.

I was pretty happy with the numbers considering I was running crappy fuel in a stock truck that hasn't been broken in yet. It got me thinking about a an EZ though...

I have to keep telling myself "Gauges first, power later. "

Dyno'ed my truck 10/04/03 at Dotson Bros. Chrysler in Paris, KY. I have a Flowmaster Delta Series, stock airbox, and the EDGE was on Level 3 without the boost elbow installed.

311 Horsepower

603 Pound-feet of Torque

My truck was on a Dyno Jet # 248.

The next day (Sunday) the EDGE went to Level 4 and the boost elbow was installed. Still grinning from ear to ear. I seem to have added around 3. 5 to 4. 0 mpg to boot. Gauges are next, then the AFE. I think I posted / added some Dyno Days pics in the gallery.

JNutter, those are good numbers, especially if it is winter fuel. I did 270/500 but I had more miles and the dyno I ran on typically gives good numbers (a bit high).

By the way is this you Jack? as in "Shooter" formerly known as "JNutter"? Or has "JNutter" come back as someone else?

The mileage increase would be great. I know I'm going to end up with an EZ before too long. Thanks for sharing your numbers.

JNutter II

That's interesting. I guess they cleaned house and removed old unused handles. I thought it was interesting since Jack Nutter of Albuquerque NM had the same handle and he was a regular poster. JNutter is a familiar handle to the oldtime TDR members :)

A couple years later he changed his handle to shooter. He still comes by from time to time.

Welcome to TDR by the way, JNutter II! :D

Just curious of why you would put a flowmaster on a turbo diesel?

Wanted a little more exhaust note than stock, without being too noisey for a lot of long trips I often take in the truck. I've read too many posts, here and elsewhere, where owners have been unhappy with the straight pipe set up. Didn't want a 5" set up, because I've also read that it may cost you power. I chose to not replace it all, because the stock exhaust (except muffler) ain't that bad.

Greg

Well, I was just curious if you had ever heard of the down sides of running a chambered muffler like the flowmasters on the turbo vehicles. The exhaust pulses are resonated off the baffles which cause the turbo to work harder. The best mufflers are flow thru's

Well, I am not sure about what there diesel mufflers are like, but all the other delta mufflers are chambered also. As long as it is a chambered muffler it will affect how the turbo reacts.
