Picked up a set of the OEM fog light kit for a '98. Looking at the lenses, they have ridges on them. For the 99-00 they have the flat clear lense. I prefer the later of the two. Since these are two different kits is there anything different ie; wiring harness, resistors... . or just the lenses different. Thanks in advance.

I have the 99 fog lights, the beam is not very defined, I have had complaints that they shine too high and they are almost pointed at the ground. I suspect the ridges are to diffuse the light to the sides so it doesn't blind oncoming traffic. bg

Sorry I can't help with the wiring being different, but I can answer your question on the lights.

A clear lense, one where you can see the bulb, is a driving light. A rigid lense is a fog light. Just as BG said the rigid lense is desinged to spread the light better and closer to the vehicle. The clear lense will project farther.

Back to the top. For everyone with a '99 or '00 is the switch for the fogs incorporated in the headlight switch or is it in the passanger airbag key-off area on the dash? Thanks for the help.

Yes, the switch is incorporated into the headlight switch. Turn on to parking light position and pull.

The factory fogs are pitiful. I've seen flashlight that do a better job. There's got to be something better.

Y2K Red Stealth Sport 2500 4X4 QC SLT+, 5-spd, 3. 54 anti-spin, 265-75-16 LTX’s (There ain’t no such thing as options, cause ya gotta have it all, including: DC’s dead cow/vinyl interior and don’t stop anti-lock brakes. ) Stock, but not for long. Oops, too late. What silencer ring? (More fun than my 98 SST)

The factory fog lights are weak, but you can replace the 35 watt bulbs with brighter ones. The size is a 859 and you can purchase 65 watt bulbs which are a big improvement. I bought mine from Competition Limited in Michigan.

2000ney,
Did you have to swap out any fuses, use heavier relay, or rewire with heavier wire? I suspect not, but thought it better to ask to be sure. I too am disappointed with the factory lights; would like some more light up there.
