I was wondering if anyone knows of any problems with the stock fuel quantitiy and oil pressure gauges. Both of mine are not working. The fuel gauge always pegs hard to the empty and the oil pressure gauge doesn't move. The idiot lite works and goes out after statup. Thanks

A broken wire to the sending unit can cause this. Or a bad sending unit bad will to. See if you can get your hand up on the sending unit. Unhook the wire going to it. Ground it. The gage should go to the full mark then. If it does replace the sending unit.

Here is a link for how to troubleshoot the oil pressure switch.

If you go to the top of this page and click on user control panel you could setup a signature with your truck spec's in it. This will help when someone might need to know the model and year of your truck to help in troubleshooting. There is some differences between the first models and the 91. 5 and up models.

I was having problems with my stock temp gauge last winter. It was reading very high, and there would be large jumps from the open and closed positions of the thermostat. Several checks of the radiator eliminated an overheating problem. When it jumped in time with the turn signal, I knew it was in the wiring somewhere. Turned out that the insulation was rubbing off the wire, just out from the sending unit. Taped it up and it's back to normal.
