Stock horn?? Sounds like a Honda. Help.

I don't know about you all, but I am a bit disappointed in the horn on my 05 Ram. It sounds a bit better than the 04, but still unacceptable.



I'm not sure I want to go the compressor-air horn route. My 89 Caddy has a great horn stock from the factory. Does anyone know of a good replacement electric horn I can swap for the existing one without a compressor re-fit project? Thanks, all.

I removed my stock horns and installed the horns off an 85 Caddy. Not a real tuff job. I also have air horns on the roof that I use in conjunction with the one finger wave :-laf

Just pulled a set off a 90 fleetwood at a boneyard this morning. We'll see how they sound. May still go for the airhorn too as one has many opportunities to use the one finger wave in DFW traffic... . Thanks for the idea! Any one else with a recommendation please let me know.

Personally, as electric horns go, I think mid-80s large GM cars had the best (Cutlass, Caprice, Caddys, etc. ).



My friends make me honk my stock horn all the time... they get a real good laugh out of it. Some day I'll upgrade to air horns.

I've been getting good results with the Whelen Model - PAP112 (100 Watt Air Horn Tone) which I tied into the horn ring. I bypassed the factory horn and hooked the wires up to a Federal Signal under the bumper 100W speaker. It has held up very good over the last 4 years. The module draws very little current when the ignition is off, but needs a dedicated 20A circuit.



Pricey, around $500 for the entire setup.

I have regular air horns on my truck and that is the way to go. Get two sets and tie them togher for an even louder set up.

I just finished (mostly) my air horns Grover 1602's with Hadley 850 pump and 2. 5 gallon tank. Some pic's on my reader rig. Not bad results. Now it a real Big Horn Edition :-laf :-laf :-laf

It didnt make a huge difference, but I reversed the location from inside the engine compartment to below. On 2nd gen it required only a slight tweak to get the horn angle correct (retighten the mounting bolt), and the wires were long enough.
