Competition 180 pump mods and injectors

Competition Leaf spring removal.. How many?

Hi, my motor is basically stock right now and uncle sam has been good to me. I want to "upgrade" my motor to gain 500+ HP. What can I do to achieve this??

Mods that I already have are AFE intake and Straight Piped. Nothing else.

Thanks!

This is for the 2004. 5 Model Year

I would make it a safe 500 hp,

1st a turbo upgrade with an Industrial Injection Silver Bullet 62. This turbo will move enough air to feed 700 hp, so 500 hp is a safe bet. If you don't address the air flow first, you will later.

2nd Industrial Injection, injectors nothing really big, but just right.

3rd a FASS fuel system for reliable fuel delivery

4th a Banks 6gun with speed loader, with PDA, this allows you to tune from the touch screen.

This will make a easy 500 to 550 with excellent fuel mileage with zero trouble or turbo lag. I have built this combination over and over again and when you decide you want more you have the basics to go to 800 plus hp easy.

You also should make plans to put a NADP transmission upgrade kit,

With this approach you are fixing the problems in advance before the you pay big in damaged parts.

The next step is when you want 700 hp is a MaxSpool Cam this will help with airflow dramatically and cool Egt's

Then stack a TS performance MP8 . This will allow you to dial up the power

Very good advice, but I would definately change #4 to TST Powermax CR, Smarty or Triple Dog w/Crazy Larry.

500 horse is a small set of injectors with smarty. but if you want to flat foot the throttle, escpecially down there in havasu a turbo would be on the list. no one told ya yet but i think you should invest in gauges first and foremost.

If you want to bash, go to the banter forum, this is a tech answer thread, you have your tuners, I have mine.

This is for a safe 500 hp, no sense using harsh tuners to make only 500 hp. I made 598 without a tuner or a pressure box, just a good reasonable injector, ported head, MaxSpool cam SB66 turbo and II CP3 stage II . The Banks Six-Gun PDA with the speed loader is very versatile, allowing you to have a safety net and set any egt’s limit you want. This lets you find the edge and go up to it with out going over. The engineering and refinement that that goes in to the Six-Gun is absolutely unmatched. The PDA is a great set of gauges also

These combinations are something that we do all the time with new trucks , get over the fact that the Banks Product Works and now the proof is available .

Comp, show me a dyno sheet with a banks 6 gun as the only programmer making 500hp with a turbo upgrade please.

Jason, us little people are not allowed to question his holiness...

Sounds like a friggin infomercial!

Funny how Banks makes greg a driver now their fuel box is the best one in the world.

Not bad advice but Greg has to mention Banks to keep his ride or else he'll come up with another one of those signatures:

"Gale enjoy the ride, it was fun building it blah blah blah" LMAO!

That is not proof at all. I come from the IT world, Microsoft is the king of making up "proof". I can spot "BS" and this "white paper" was so full of it a 5th grader could of written it better.

14. 75 != 500hp. ... . 500HP = 13. 5s at 7300#'s Thank you very much.

Banks PDA simply does not fuel enough to make 500hp. Even with injectors and a CP3 upgrade. This is were the HOT programs come into play here.

If you wanna sell this guy some info, back it up. We do not have but a handful of individuals around here with banks electronics on their trucks, and even less with the balls to dyno them. Many many people here have other products and numbers in their sigs.

If any one has banks, and dynoed, say something! :)

My Edge combination will dyno at the 500hp mark give or take a few I'm sure. I've worked out some bugs since I dynoed last with my truck's setup. That's a stock charger and under 1500EGT's too boot. Others have managed 550hp with the stock charger. Show me what banks can do with and with out a charger, I'm sure Banks has enough cash flow to purchase a little SPS62 from II for a "test" right?

All I'm asking for here is proof, everyone else has proof in the form of happy customers. I would hate for this individual (or anyone else) to be miss lead.

as stated above a set of gauges first, then a decent transmission, a turbo, a set of mild injectors, and a smarty will get you 500hp. if you want just alittle more a mild pressure box.

who i would use for theses parts

gauges-isspro, or dipricol (EGT, boost, transmission)

transmission- HTS

turbo- Industrial Injection (sps 62- silver 62)

injectors, Industrial Injection (3 flows)

smarty- your choice of diesel performance company.

Pressure box- VA 3. 1 or a TS mp8

Pretty right on so far with the advice on parts. Another option is to keep your injectors stock and upgrade your CP3 pump. It will cost you the same amount of money. Just another route to think about going. Good Luck!

I made 551 at the wheels just yesterday with my EZ on level 2 and my TST at 6x6, SPS 62/14, and original sticks and CP3 with 178k on them. Even with the TST on 3x3 it was still at 479HP/ 1008TQ EGT's at this level did not go over 1250*. Truck was begging for a fuel and air filter change too.

Yep I was right behind him at 541/1008 with a htt 64 and Bullydog crazy Larry and stock injectors.

We made 560hp on a '04 with a Floor It stage 2 pump, II SPS 62, F1 Flux 1's and a Smarty on Saturday on a Superflow.

Quite safely also I might add:)

I. I. SPS62 or HTT HT 71 series from HTT both company's are great...

TST R49

SMARTY

FASS or Walbro system and for the money a big line kit from GDP

Good intake and exhaust and hold on... Oh and a clutch or transmission because you'll toast a stock set up...

That rich guy that suckers everyone into buying his over priced stuff is a joke, "IMO" I know of a lot of disappointed people that fell for is gimmicks.

You know that’s a little uncalled for , you want to bash Banks , keep it to your self, or in the banter forum .

I have used everyone product looking for power on Project X. Some of the products are so brutal that I would never think use them on a stock “uncapped rail” truck, with out fear of the hydraulic hammer caused by the rail relief bouncing and cracking injectors.

I data Log every aspect of Project X and have seen what the effect of the pressure boxes are. The only pressure/ boost box I have used, that makes great power and doesn’t bounce the rail pressure all over the map is the TS MP8 box.

The old module I took off of X was brutal on rail pressure spiking at over 28. 000 psi , no wonder its has a reputation at dodge dealers across the country of “ the injector Killer” Cap you rail and big pressure is not the problem, it’s the spikes. The TS MP8 is smooth and steady, and with a little special programming from gives me the pressure I need.

I installed my first Six Gun PDA on a stock truck this week for a fellow firefighter, at the dealership. This guy is a very conservative captain on another department that I know and train with until his recent retirement. Before you cry fowl at me bragging on my Team, if you going to bash, I’m going to put out the truth.

I wanted to do an objective run on a stock truck owned by a man that just plunked down almost 45 grand for a nice truck to tow his fifth wheel palace on wheels, for his life long retirement trip.

The results were incredible. The truck runs like a striped ape, gets great fuel economy and is absolutely safe, I was confident in looking this man in the eye and telling him that his investment would not be damaged by the “HOT ROD STUFF “ as he called it . He bought it direct from Banks, before he knew that I was driving for Gale . I talked him in to a Technacooler after the data log results off X impressed me.

This product gives really great power, and in Speed loader, would smoke the tires on a mega cab 4X4 dually, hope he doesn’t read this, lol. I would match it any time to any of the other product out there, for this application.

For those of you that haven’t used a PDA Six Gun you can go in and really get aggressive on a lot of parameters, but it will make you accept the warning first on the touch screen. I didn’t push it, but the ability to make power is there.

So there , any one want to dyno side by side on a stock truck, Ill provide the truck, off the lot , you point to the over 1100 new diesels on Kirks dealerships well go up the street to Speed Tech , and test side by side, the Banks six Gun PDA with speed loader makes big power we=hen called on to do so, and that’s with out the special tuning , that it will let you do , if you accept the disclaimer on the touch screen, which I didn’t on this truck.
