I'm gonna get new front brakes. I've looked at the EGR brake kit (kit B). Looks great, but too much money. Centric has a kit for a lil cheaper. I kinda like the stock brakes. They wear pretty good. I've come to the conclusion that If I save my money and get new stock rotors and pads for now, I would get an exhaust brake later. I want better braking going down grades and longer lasting brakes.

I read in the tdr mag about slotted rotors. Are slotted rotors worth the money?

How good are Centric brakes? Compared to EGR and Stock?

Thanks.

i put drilled rotors on everything I own... slotted is just as good or better and I think you can get them drilled and slotted. The whole deal with brakes is the faster they can dissapate heat the better they work period. You also want to get good pads. We have an engineer here that used to work for GM doing brake testing that says they would bury a thermocouple in the brake pads to see how much heat they would transfer away from the rotors. Apparently the cheaper pads from the nationwide cheap stores would not transfer much heat and one of them actually burst into flames on the brake dyno. Check with Summit Racing for PowerStop rotors before you buy from anyone else and get the good metallic pads at NAPA or even ceramics if you can pony up the dough.

It all started with my lifted Jeep Cherokee. They have crappy braking anyway and even after I put the 8 3/4" Mopar rear end in it (out of my car) with bigger drums it still lacked. The drilled rotors made a HUGE difference on that vehicle and made it stop at least as well as stock and maybe better. Since then I just go ahead and put them on at the first brake job. IMHO your pads and your life will last longer.

I bought from frozenrotors.com. They will drill or slot. They say to slot instead of drill because the forces that we put on the brakes from excess weight (ie TT) can cause the rotors to fracture and explode due to drilling. I noticed that my truck stops normal until hitting approx. 40mph and then it pulls down real quick. Its like bamm their grabbing and holding.
