cleaned there's out???? I know I have some crap in it and I want to clean it out - looks easy to get down - once fuel is low - But how hard is it to get at the inside - I mean once you take the top off - how do you reseal it????? Also - isn't there some "glue" that would allow you to install a low point drain?

There is a reusable o-ring on the pick up unit, that is what seals the tank. You should be able to get your arm up in both ends of the tank with the module out of the way. Your problem might be with your pick up module, like a cracked pick up line, that may only rear its ugly head when you are low on fuel or a dirty screen.

Yes I have a FASS

and I'm going to clean it out and take off the filter screen on the pickup and rely on the big fass filters.....

You might want to leave the screen in place to keep big stuff out of the pump. It would not be a good thing if something got in the tank and sucked up and jammed or scared the pump when the screen might have prevented it.

Food for thought ;)

Be careful getting the lines loose, if they are rusty they will break. The tank unit is plastic with plastic line connections on my 91, they will also break, BTDT. :{ As far as a drain goes find a low spot and put in a bulkhead fitting with a drain valve. The fuel lines rusted on my 91 until they got holes in them and started sucking air. I had my tank down last fall to replace the lines and it was clean as a pin inside after 15 years. The strap bolts seem to want to break also, I was lucky, some time and a lot of PB Blaster and mine came loose. Hope this helps you out.

I was told the fuel flows through the FASS filters before going through the FASS pump. Is this correct?

Thanks,

Dan

Yes that's correct - according to RIP -

the fuel goes through the filters before the pump - that's how you how much fuel pressure is on the downstream side of the FASS if you have a FP gauge hooked up to the pump... ...

I hope that is correct. I have been running a 1/2" pipe stand with no prefilter for a year or so. I would have put a prefilter on it if I had been told the fuel goes through the pump first.
