Well I finally got the time to slide the stock plate forward (about 1 hr). I drove around the block and didn't see that BIG of a diffrence. We loaded up for the weekend and took off for a 2½ hr trip out to the land to play... And HEY!!!! what a diffrence it made in the top end.

I can pass with confidence now.

I also added some injector cleaner so I'm not sure how much that helped but for sure @ 60 mph + I have alot more 'gitty-up. And we went... . It actually puts you back in the seat alittle!!!

Any more stock mods for us who like to tinker' but can't spend at will???

getty up WHOOOOO

know that the BUG has bit, another cheap mod that was suggested was, go in under the plate where you were, look deep, you may have to rotate the engine a little to see the springs down there, the are about two inches down, one on each side. turn them down one click, 1/4 turn, this will bring the idle up a little, and give you a little more higher RPM, before it starts to defuel.

HAVE fun will travel.

Your free power boost could turn into an expendsive engine rebuild if you don't have at least an egt gauge. Sliding the plate full forward is notorious for running the exhaust temps up into the meltdown range.

Yeah I've got a guy wanting me to work on his truck after giving him a ride in mine and I told him he had to get gauges before I'd do anything performance wise.

Tried breaking into his pump to take his rackstop out tonight and didn't have a good enough screwdriver that wouldn't strip the groove I cut.

Get some guages!

Woaw man....

I will be putting the plate back to stock position tonight !!!!!

I like the git' up but I don't want it to go !!!!

Thanks for the 911. I will heed your warnings and thanks for saving my engine.

how the heck do you get into the danger zone with a 160pump auto? maybe WOT locked for a long period towing uphill, but i don't see it otherwise. i do know that the 215s pumps get hot quick. without the governor spring kit, and the stock plate full forward (plus k&n, some exhaust mods, and a disabled wastegate) i was really hard pressed to hit 1100*. even when i went to a #0 i wasn't pushing the egts hard either (up to 1250*). but once the gsk went in, the egts went through the roof on the high end. now i hit 1400* within a couple seconds and can bury the guage if i wanted to.
