Stock rim Width 7.5 or 9 inch?

Funny thing, today i went out to check my stock rim width and my door sticker said 17x7. 5. After reading other TDR member post i thought i had read it was 8 inches. So i took out a tape and got a pretty good mesurement of 9 inches lip to lip. Has any one measured the stock rim width with the tire off?

base steel rims are 17 x 7. 5, aluminums are 17 x 8. The bead width is the inside measurement, not from the outside of the lip.

Measure the inside of the rin where the tire contacts the rim.

All Ram aluminum rims have been 8" wide since 2000 model year. Vaughn

the sticker is a statement of GVWR on a base truck. if you notice it will also show the tire size as 235/80 r17 even though I had the aluminum wheels and 265/70r17's when I bought it.

The 04+ Dodge stock steel Chrome Clad wheels are also 17x8 same as the Dodge stock aluminum alloy.
