Well there probably going to be as many opinions on this as there are trucks, but, here is mine... .
Since you said "stock" plate and wanting the location all I can say is its a touchy feely thing. Many of us who have ran with a plate of some sort use the plate to fueling by going front for more and back for less. The starwheel controls the low end power and smoke so all you need to remember is forward(looser)more low end smoke and power and back(tighter) takes away low end power and smoke.
Most people who do work on a plate will add one from TST and tune is to the way they drive. There are those those of us who run plateless and have for years and then you control the power/smoke with your foot. Keep in mind if you ever do that you should have a set of gauges to monitor whats going on and possibly prepare yourself for a clutch upgrade.
If you some searching here you will find many schools of thought on how to tune a 12v but there is no better reading than what Joe D wrote along time ago and I will add the link here for you... ..... Hope that helps some and feel free to ask away if you can not find what your looking for... ... ... Andy
Stock, the fuel plate was between centered in its slots to . 030” forward of that. Total length of the slots allowed for adjustment of about . 23”. It would be difficult to give a measurement for the star wheel; it was approximately in the center of the access hole in the top of the AFC housing.
