Stock shafts, boosted launches?

Through discussions with a couple transmission builders, I've found that our 518's have solid shafts rather than hollow ones like the later lockup trannies did. I'm also told there is a decent strength difference as a result of this (how much, no one could quantify). So for those of you that make a decent amount of power, do you build up boost before launching, with stock shafts in the trans? If so, how much boost, how much power do you have, and have you had any probs?
