Where is the stock idiot light sensor located?

Would this be a good place to put an after market temp gauge sending unit?

Don't know where the idiot light is , but their are 2 ports on the passenger side just behind the fill tube going into the trans ,use the rear one , seems to work fine.

As you are setting in the truck it is in the right upper corner (inside the pan)

It goes off at 275

A long time ago I did a pan and trans port comparison that was close but the folks at DTT cleared that one up by posting the details of all the ports in the trans. which meant the port I was using was not measuring temps while in reverse.

The output (front line) will read the highest temps the fluid is reaching.

Placing it in the front of the pan will read what the trans temp is so it depends on if you want to monitor fluid or transmission temps.

The back of the pan is not good IMO because the cooled fluid returns there.
