Does anyone know a ball park # of what I can expect my 99 ext cab 4x4 w/ 3. 54's to run in the 1/4 mile? I live in Wisconsin. I want to run it when I run my mustang at the track in a couple of weeks and I want to brace myself for the slow times. What's expected to be a good or poor number for a stock truck? I'm also going to run it with my Comp Box on level 3 and see what the differences are... any ideas on what I should expect with the Comp Box on level 3? I have to keep it on level b/c I want the transmission to hold up until I get the cash for the DTT. Oh yea, it's an automatic.

I tested mine with the Pocket Dyno and got inconsistent times ranging from a best of 17. 5 to 18. 5 at speeds between 75 and 80mph. This will vary a lot depending on how agressively you launch, and a stock transmission isn't going to do well at this. Also, this was at 5000 feet elev. , so you may average better than this. I have an '01 with 3. 54 gears.

I never ran a test on level 3, and now have DDIIs and DTT transmission so wouldn't be a good comparison for you.

Have fun!

I can give you an estimate based on the way my truck performed.

I have a spot where I can do comparison tests, it is approximately1/4 mile- maybe a little more. Stock I was getting about 72 mph, Banks Stinger plus was 80 mph, DTT & 275s got up to 90mph, changed to DD2s and now it is between 95 & 100 mph.

I haven't had a chance to get on a 1/4 mile track but I think these numbers would be close. I dynoed 366 RWHP at MM

Well I just happened to hit the drag strip yesterday with my "stock" first gen. I have tweaked the pump some and have a modified air box with K&N and straight pipe exhaust. It is a 93' regular cab 4x4 with an auto and 3. 54 gears. I made three passes all at 17. 9 seconds from 66 to 68 mph. Not bad for a "stock" first gen? By the way I launched in 4 wheel drive at about 15 psi. (my poor transmission!)

i can tell you exactly .

BONE STOCK 2000 2500 4x4 , quad cab short bed , 3. 54 gears , LT265 tires , auto trans , an amsoil air filter in the stock airbox ,6856 lbs.

18. 49 @72. 7mph , this was punching it when the lite went green , no building of boost, no manual shifting , just foot to the firewall lift in the traps , . you are stock , lockout OD , you won't be going fast enough and it will probably hurt you if you get that shift , though i honestly don't remeber trying .

I know this doesn't really help with your question, but in Las Vegas I forgot to turn my COMP on one time and I ran 15. 31 @ 87 mph so this was on the BD IV injectors, which dynoed around 345hp with the COMP turned off. This was using 4 wheel drive like I always do.

I used a g tech on my stock 2000 215hp auto short box 4x4,4. 10 gears. It did 18. 11 @72. 0mph. The truck was a slug stock, The day i got it i had an EZ waiting for it. My G tech reads 13. 71-13. 95 now.

2000 4x4 Dually SLT, auto, 3. 54's..... bone stock 18. 1@79, VA (Thanks to Mopar-Muscle :D) and everything else stock: 17. 1@85

I built a little boost at the staging area..... 2000rpm... . no boost gauge. I built too much boost on one run... . broke the rear tires loose all the way through the 60' lights. The owner of the truck was like: :--)

HTH,

Matt

On edit: This was all in 2x4 with stock 35k mile Goodyears... .

dont run 1st gen in 4x4

no need to 4x4 1 st gen its a waste

i ran best time at 240 hp was 17. 1 at 83.

dually 4x4 ext cab in 2x4 if 4x4 mph will drop

i tied all the other lighter 1 st gens at that race

with my 4x4 dually ,

rear air pressure in dually max 30 in all 4

3/4 ton ide say 35 max

a lot of air will make tires spin

if iam at 55 psi in rear duals ill break tires loose in 3 rd

when 40 psi hits

Someone talked about building boost with a 5spd. How can that be?? Sure would like to run my neighbor in his Dakota 318 with the 16. 20 on his windows for the last 3 months. He runs at State Capital dragway every friday night in the bracket racing. I told him I was interested and he and his buddys about fell down laughing. Just wondering what I would run with current bombs?

Oh yeah slid the plate forward a tad and have not dynoed since.

pwk , you don't , thats the big negative to running a stick with a turbo , no way to build boost ...

you could rev the thing against the rev limiter and let the clutch fly ... .

i'm kidding ...

PWK try this

Hold your foot one the brake and fuel at the same time, rev it to 1500 and start to slip your clutch. It will build boost. :D BTW only do this if you're not to concerned about your clutch.

To give you some idea: I have never gotten a timeslip, so I can't say for certain on the time. But, I have a 1/4 mile measured off on a back road, and my truck will do 80-84 MPH at the end.

Jay,

I just ran at Muncie yesterday. My best run was 17. 40 at 75mph - totally stock (except for exhaust). I thought that was pretty good. I was launching in 2wd at about 16 lbs of boost. I may be able to improve on that with less boost off the line (I was breaking the tires loose).
