I think this is a good time to stock up on some fuel.
A guy gave me a blue plastic, 55 gallon barrel that used to have automotive detailing degreaser in it. Would it be okay to fill it with either diesel or gas and keep it filled for a while? It's like this:
55 Gallon Barrel/Drum - Blue, Plastic Barrels, Plastic Drums, Metal Drums, Plastic Totes, Plastic Storage Containers - ArizonaBarrels.com
Of course, I'd clean it out really well-or as well as I could. There is no lid to be able to take off and get in there and scrub it out. It only has two smaller screw in caps. We blasted it out at a car wash but the water still had suds. I thought I'd fill it up with water again and dump it out to dilute whatever is still in there.
Is this a bad idea? Are there any other steps to follow when storing fuel. I haven't decided to fill it with gas or diesel yet. I can buy a pump made for these barrels to pump out whatever type of fuel I put in it.
Thanks for your input.
Craig
