I want to keep my spare injection pump (all virgin with all seals intact if you can believe it) in storage until needed. My question is what do you think would be the best fluid to put in the pump to keep it lubricated and preserve the seals? I was thinking maybe ATF? I know oil will damage the seals and WD40 turns sticky and gummy when it dries. Any ideas?

Nothing. It has diesel (clean diesel) in it now. Keep it in a safe/dry location. I keep mine in the schools temerature controled shop, in a box.

I tried filling mine with #2 and diesel fuel additive, but it all leaked out a delivery valve. I'm told a garage is bad for storing one. Keep it in a dry non moisture, warm location. I keep mine in the house next to my bed:D.

A dry place, in Florida? :D Ok I will just use diesel and fuel additive and store it. I have capped all openings and it will be in a sealed plastic box. I am going to find some moisture desicants to place in the box with it also.

Yes put it in a dry box with dessicant.

But spray it with something like WD 40 first, then wrap it in VCI paper. (that's the stuff that bearings are wrapped in when you get them)

Any residue from the protecting oil can be washed off when you get around to using the pump.

I am also going to suggest that you buy a safe that is properly secured to store the pump in.

Now that Greenleaf knows there's a spare pump around you should put 24/7 security on that thing :-laf :-laf

My Mom is building a house in Ocala. I may be in the area sooner than you think.

Good point on the caps. I failed to mention that. And yes..... diesel will leak out of a delivery valve if the the pump is postioned at the correct point (to fire that cylinder)and full of fuel. My 90 pump sat for some time and leakd fuel out of cylinder #5 untill I got around to dismantaling the pump.
