here in the shaker state of California its nice to have an extra 100 gal. of water when you need it. my question is how long can i store in my 5-ver and do i need to add an additive to keep it from going bad. i use the 5-ver almost every month or 6 weeks. with draining and refilling the tank every time i go out. thanks for the input. ken

I think you are OK with your system. Storing longer would be cause to think about adding some bleach. I keep the camper full of water and food plus twenty gallons of diesel on hand. Trouble is all the exits out of here except one have bridges and chances are they will go down in a big one. I also keep 200 gal of water on hand in the back yard which I treat so I don't have to change so often. I can guarantee that there will be no water around here in a major quake.

Although there isn't any direct sunlight, would there be a problem with algae without treating the water? I know if a tank is outside in the sun and heat, it doesn't take long to start growing algae.

I know where I am getting my water when the time comes. :D

I just give my storage tank a little bleach treatment from time to time to get rid of the Crawlies.
