How do I indentify a "Storm" block? I have a 97 12 valve... I know some of the 12 valves were and some were not and most of the 98's were.

How would I tell?

Thanks

Yeah, It looks like it's gonna make a very small difference in the price of the twin turbo set-up from Piers.

Check my post on the Products/Accessories forum under to HX-40 or not!

It tells a little more for the reason of the storm block.

I wanted everyone to read the post and learn when I do how to tell one from the other.

STORM = Straight Thread O Ring Metric. Cummins went from NPT plugs to the above metric plugs. The block is reportedly somewhat stronger. On the outside the easy way to tell is the horizontal rib near the engine mount boss. Some 98 12 valves had the STORM block. I have seen 215 hp with the ordinary block and a 180 automatic with STORM so you can't predict based on hp rating.

If I can ever find a way go get some real power for Sickly, I will look into getting one of these blocks. Meanwhile the ordinary old block used in all 97s will have to do. :D
