Need help on engine acessories for 96 cummins

So we talked about exhaust brakes......

Alright guys I want to make my truck a little louder and I am trying to decide on just taking the flo-pro muffler I have on off & replacing it w/ a straight piece of pipe & leave the resonator in place to help with drone or go with a mprb exhaust to avoid the drone. . I am looking for a nice deep sound kind of like a big rig. . Also I have heard the exhaust tips make a difference on the sound. . Is this true or just a myth?? Thanks

I am trying to find out the same thing. There are some awesome sounding gen 2 running around where I live. They sound like logging trucks.

look at my truck profile.

I've had many positive comments.

I'm in no way associated with Rip, my wife wishes I didn't know him :-laf

I had placed a piece of pipe in for the factory muff as my first mod. Exhaust note barely louder at idle, and a bit sharper than with the muff.

I then swapped to Rip's 4". Definately a difference worth noting. I have a muff in the system. It's louder than stock, but not obnoxious. Has a much deeper, performance tone and can really rock off a concrete barrier of wall. Again, not loud, but you can hear it. No drone!

Straight pipe is cheaper. I think it cost me like $50 for the tube and 2 connectors. Couple hours of my time and that's all it took.

My 01 has a 4" down pipe on back with NO restrictions other than the bends. I get compliments (from people who like sound) on the way it sounds. There are a few people who don't give me compliments, but I doubt that they'd like it stock either.
