I've run my truck straight piped for about 10,000 miles and love the way it sounds outside of the truck. Turns heads everywhere, however I've made a few long trips and the interior noise/drone is getting old. Especially around 75 to 80 mph (interstate speed).

I would like to quiet it down some to make it a more pleasant ride on long trips. What have you used with good results concerning interior noise levels?

I did a search and it seems alot of people install the 51" donaldson truck mufflers as far forward as possible with good results...

I am also going to try adding some insulation behind the back seat on the back of the cab first to see how much of a difference it makes.

Thoughts? what brand or model of muffler did you use?

just a point of interest - I had the same prob with my straight pipe - but when I put a 4" downpipe on and refabbed my exhaust so it exits out the side past the bed an inch or two that was enough to take my annoying 70mph drone away but now I have twins and its even more quiet now.

I used a Flowmaster Super 40 after running straight for about a year. Sounds great and quiet in the cab. Used the 3" center in/out 19" body version # 389-953045 off Jegs website. Easy install, just cut the pipe, put in and clamp. 20 minute job with a sawsall.
