Straight piping... Has anyone straight piped a MBZ 300D/sd/dt turbo??

Just wondering if anyone has taken the muffler out of any other of the common diesel cars out there for mpg gains, etc, what do they sound like???

I drove a MB 300SD, 5 cyl Diesel that was straight piped. I didn't notice any mileage or performance changes, but it did sound nicer. It was good for a ticket every now and then, but it wasn't very loud in the car.
