Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
Got back yesterday from Road Atlanta where I watched the STRANA truck racing that was held during the Petit Le Mans. Those things are AWESOME!!! Bruce from Diesel Injection of Pittsburg was there (they did the fueling boxes for the engines) and I must say that he is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people I have spoken with.
The trucks are all purpose built race machines running Detroit Series 60s with ZF 5 speed automatic transmissions. The reason they were running Detroits is because Detroit Diesel donated them to the cause. (Maybe we need to start asking Cummins when they're going to sponsor some ISXs?) What I found interesting is that none of the major truck manufacturing companies would sponsor the series so all of the company trucks were a generic truck shape rather than an actual brand truck.
They only had four trucks completed that were running in the Celebrity Challenge, but even with four trucks, it was so sweet to see class 8 rigs blasting around the road course. Next year, they plan to have 6 races in the later part of the year and some more trucks owned by private teams rather than all company trucks.
Hopefully with Tonka as the series sponsor this truck racing series will grow to be as popular as the Craftsman Truck Series so we'll see diesel truck racing more often.
Watch for the ESPN2 hour long show in November about the series and maybe you'll get to see the footage my friend shot of the wreck in turn 10A.
