Strange 6.0PSD Exhaust Smell

The company I work for rents 6. 0 F250 trucks for us to use when all the company-owned trucks are out working - what's the deal with the exhaust smell? The exhaust from the PSD smells alot different from the Cummins - is it a catalytic converter thing?, the smell is absolutely rank. The fuel in the Fords is from the same station I fill my truck up at.

Yep, the smell of the Fords exhaust passing through cats is just plain nasty. In fact, all catted diesel smells nasty to me.

crap is as crap does, those things smell bad and sound worse very unpleasnt to sit near in traffic, unless i am in a position to show them how a diesel should smell :-laf

Yep, several of our customers (those who go for the cheapest bid) have 6. 0 and 7. 3 furds. The ones with the cat REALLY stink, to the point of BURNING your eyes! It is AWFUL! Even before my '96 and '98 lost the kitty, it never smelled nearly as bad as the furds do when kitty equipped!

Maybe ULSD will help this problem?

My dad just got a new 06 and it smells more like a gassers exhaust than anything else. Stinks! He needs to ditch the kitty and stack it. He will go for the kitty delete, but isn't going for the stack idea. I think the silver color would go really well with a set of chrome stacks.

FWIW my 06 CTD smells just like my 04 PSD did. Maybe I should stop huffing diesel exhaust

Do the Cummins with the cat smell as bad? I've gotten quite a few strange looks from my coworkers when I complain about the PSD diesel exhaust, adding that my exhaust smells like a little piece of heaven.

I have been running B100 for nearly 2 years and I was asked one day if I had been cooking on a grill. I stopped at the cleaners and left it running, their front doors were open and the exhaust must have drifted inside. The girl behind the counter asked me if I had been barbq-ing. All I could do was laugh and tell her no, thats my truck running.
