While getting off the highway a few days ago, I came to a stop behind a line of traffic waiting for a right turn on red. While slowing moving forward with the flow, it feels like getting hit by another vehicle, like a light tap, sounds like it is coming from the rear of the truck. Not using the go pedal to move forward, just releasing the brake pedal. It also happens while making a U-turn in a parking lot. What is it and should I be concerned??

This same symptom was happening on my wife's car. It turned out that this particular car (with rear drums) was known to have a problem. Thier solution was to lubricate the backing plates. It almost felt as though the rear brakes released on you and/or you got bumped from behind.

Looking at your sig, you have rear discs so I dunno if it could be brake related or not... .

It sounds like the limited slip clutches in the rear-end are in need of a little friction modifier.

It can be purchased at the "Stealer" and added a little at a time until the popping goes away.

Do a search on limited slip for proper amounts, and "break-in" procedures.

Do you have the stock fuel tank or an aftermarket? How much fuel did you have in your tank when this happened? Could it be fuel sloshin' about ?

Is it just a delayed down shift into 1st gear?

I feel a slight bump from behind each time my transmission downshifts when nearing a stop.
