Hi everyone,

I'm having an interesting problem with my recently aquired 2002 Ram 3/4 ton

diesel truck. Wonder if any one has seen any similar behavior and might have an idea whats goin on. I'll be going along down the highway just fine but if I let up on the pedal and then push back down on it theres nothing there. If I continue to push further eventually the transmission Shifts down and power is restored and off we go like nothing happened until I let up on the pedal again.

The trucks got about 80,000 miles on it . Any ideas ,advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn.

Could be a few things:
1) camshaft positon Sensor is bad
2)Injection Pump is taking a dump
3) Accelerator position sensor dying.

You need to run down to your local Autozone and borrow a scantool and report back to us

you can get the codes on a 2002 by turning the ignition switch on/off three times then leave it on codes will appear in the odometer window. codes available on this site .

I have the same truck, and the same problem. I have no codes in the pcm,and my fuel pressure never goes below 11 psi. I have also noticed when this happens that you can not hear the turbo trying to spool up at all, and no power. I have the 6 spd. and if i downshift it will pick up and go like normal. This problem has happend in 4th through 6 th gear if i let up on accelerator then reapply?
