Hello all,

I have a strange issue with my 94' Dodge. Here in Arizona, where it has been 90+ degrees for a week now, I have kicked on the AC for the first time this season. Despite with the rotary setting is on (except off), air will only blow out of the defrost and floor vents. The main mid-level ones are dead. Occassionally, when I accelerate with high RPM's the mid vents kick in and all is well. My brake/ABS light is on now more than ever as well. Should I initially suspect the Vacuum pump? I am bewildered.

Thanks in advance!

~Chris

PS--This all seemed to start roughly after replacing the windshield. Strange coincidence???

My 94 has done similar things in past. 1st, get a Vac gauge tester and follow the procedures in your manual to get your pressures.

If there low our loosing vac inspect your lines and look for oil around them and in them. theres also a better replacement check valve that go on the booster. It may just be the crummy Vac assisted brake system on our 94's. There is a aux vac tank you could put in line to up your reserves like during frequent stop and go driving. If your vac pump turns out to be the culprit, theres rebuild kits with new seals out there real cheap. Don't buy a new one from DC. BIG BUCKS! I had my WS changed out recently and I don't see how they could mess up your controls to your AC dash controls. There well protected and not exposed. However, the dash controls are vac controlled and are a possible source for leaks. You can also attach the vac tester to the individual lines and check there pressures. This requires you go thru the dash for this last part. Fairly simple to do. Good Luck:D

a vacum leak is prolly the problem. If you have been working under the hood lately check all vacum hoses and connections as sometimes its too easy to knock one loose

Something I see a lot of on EXPRERIENCED trucks,is the vacuum hose collapsing on it self at the vacuum pump. The vacuum pump itself is very durable. If the hose is ok,inspect the rest of the system for leaks.

Ya no vac = hvac to defrost

Most likely places for leak are vac lines at transfer case and front axle disconnect(are you 4wd?, didnt check your sig), at fire wall where all the tees are at and cc servo under battery Bill
