Yesterday I got in my truck to go to work and when it started up, it seemed kinda loud, almost like the exhaust brake sound when decellerating in the lower gears with the EB engaged. I let it idle for a few minutes, then began backing out of my driveway. The truck had no power, and kept trying to stall.

I went up the street a little ways, and when trying to add fuel with the foot feed, it would bog, but it you babied it, then it would pick up. Still making the EB sound. Came back home, turned it off and on to check codes, but no codes came up, only "done" would show in the odometer display. Check engine light did come on though with a chime.

THen I re started it and it sounded normal, and went ahead and drove it to work.

That afternoon when I left work, the same thing happened and I made one stop on the way home. When re starting after the stop, it worked fine again.

Drove the truck once more that evening and it ran fine and the check engine light went out.

I had someone check it with a code reader and it does have a stored code-P2262. Truck has 18,500 miles at this point. Truck is completely stock and has had the AX flash and O2 module replaced in January of this year.

ANy ideas on what is happening when it makes the EB sound at idle??

Can the EB stick on engaged if the turbo is sooted up? I guess I'll take it to the dealer next week and see what they say.

May be an exhaust brake problem. Gate sticking in the closed position. I'd check that out before spending money at the dealer.

hi,

you have a turbo that need a good hard run with the exhaust brake on. the reason you had the problem is soot accumulation on the inner ring of the turbo slide nozzle, the funny starting occurs because the electric activator is not strong enough to push the slide over the carbon accumulation when cold, normally if this happens you should shut the truck off imediatly and restart it ,if it doesnt accelerate to full rpm shut it off and re start it until it does. a good hard run should fix your issue ,take it out on a stretch of road that you can accelerate up to 60mph in tow hall mode and then let the accelerator go so the exhaust brake comes on till it slows you down to 20mph ,do this about 10 times and all should be good

(we are in Australia and have had 15 of these 2007. 5 with similar issues and no warranty cover)

regards Conn
