Once in awhile I like to stop and admire the outlet of my 5" exhaust system, especially when the engine is running
A couple days ago I noticed the soot coating inside the pipe has turned from its usual coal-black shade to a medium gray. What's up with that
It looks very strange. Also the fine layer of soot that has accumulated on the rear fender over the last few hundred miles is not the typical fine, slightly sticky powder that usually takes a bit of cleaner to remove. This stuff was larger than grains of sand, clumpy soft blobs of soot particles speckled all over the fender. When I wiped them off they were dry and came off easily without cleaner. It was strange looking to say the least.
Mileage, power and smoke level hasn't changed and fuel was purchased at my typical watering hole with the usual shot of Stanadyne.
Anyone else notice this sort of thing?
