Sounds like a roar or a growl on deceleration, but only from above 50 mph.

This happens with the clutch engaged or disengaged. Sounds like it is coming

from the passenger side.

I have checked all the usual, little or no play in the front bearings, they free-

wheel well with no bearing noise. No play in the ball joints. U-joints are tight.

I have crawled under the truck, nothing obvious. Exhaust manifold looks good,

no holes in the intercooler pipes or rubber, clamps are tight. Turbo wheel fine,

no play free wheels. Intake air hose to BHAF tight. I spent a couple hours

looking for something here on the board. I am stumped. I know this is "one

of those noises" any suggestions are appreciated. Rolled 218,000 today.

As you wear a tire the tread blocks taper (the front of the block wears less) and will make noise like that. I never really noticed it until I had my first set of swampers but now I can even hear it in my grocery getter Expedition.
