Started to work this morning and thought I heard a strange noise so I turned the radio down and listened to the noise. It makes the sound when under load or when coasting I thought it might be though out bearing but it doesn't make the noise sitting at the red light in nuetral and clutch pedal released. The transmission is 6 spd and I don't feel any vibrations in the shifter and when I shift to 4Hi it still makes the sound(roads were wet this morning). Turning doesn't seem to make any difference and it really is noticable above 20mph all the way up to 60mph

TIA

Steve

Check the universal joints. It only occurs when moving. It has to be in the wheels or the drive shaft. See if the U joints are loose or wobbly.

Check your front hub, when the unit bearing goes bad it will make a grinding or squealing sound. A easy way to check for sure is to either jack it up and try to wiggle the tire or after you drive home from work or what not, see if your hub or outer axle shaft is warmer then the other side

I have to agree, I would look real good at the universals and carrier bearing on the drive shaft. they may not be wobbly yet but could be dry and noisy. Feel for anything that seems hotter than normal as soon as you stop. Good luck

Thanks for the help folks, sorry for the delay but work and home had me busy. The noise was from the double ujoint on the front shaft it was tight but starting to bind up.

Once again thanks for the help my subscription once again pays for itself
