a friend of mine has a 04 3500 srw he is running a bully dog turner it has 214,000 mi on the truck has run shell rotella oil since new and change the oil on regular intervals it has a noise coming from the back of engine or front of transmission i don't know how to explain it but it sounds like a growling or a rumbling you can hear it in park and in drive and it is harder to hear it when driving if you put foot on brake and give it little go pedal it will stop making the noise any help on this would be appreciated and thanks in advance mark

What's the transmission fluid look like? When was the last time it was serviced? I've personally seen stock auto's cooked in 30k miles when running a tuner, 214 is pretty lucky.

thanks for the replies Joe i helped him service the transmission at about 174,000 mi the transmission shifts fine and does not slip he does tow with it nothing real heavy maybe 10,000-12,000 lb max

i was going to add that the truck has been a very trouble free truck i told him that with that transmission he has been on borrowed time with the miles that is on the truck
