I've had a strange ticking vibration for about a month now and couldn't locate the source. I was looking at removing the radio bezel to see if it was a loose wire or something (Thanks Tryingit for the help on that).

Finally, I found it yesterday afternoon. I have the solid center console and I found that when the lower console lid was closed, any lateral pressure would cause it to tick. It was very aggrevating because it would come and go for no apparent reason.

The culprit is the latch on the lower lid. To solve the problem, I used an adhesive backed pad and lined the latch receiver, bottom and sides. Problem solved. I cut a 1/4 inch strip and went down one side, across the bottom and up the other. There didn't appear to be any contact between the latch and receiver sides and there is no interference to the latch from my solution. All I know is that it work and there is no more aggevating ticking coming from the console area.

Thanks for the shout out. But the funny thing is I have the same problem and knew it was the latch. I fix mine by pushing down with my elbow and it goes away... I'll have to do the tape thing this weekend. Thank you... . Nick.

I had started thinking it was something in the top compartment. Even pressure on mine wasn't stopping it. If I opened the top compartment it would stop (probably took pressure off the latch).

The tape I used was some adhesive backed Velcro. I just cut a strip of the loop side, peeled the adhesive and put it in the receiver. You can't even see it unless you look closely and since the tape is black, it looks normal. It sure was nice coming to work this morning.
