Interesting article about a State Trooper

the death of the diesel pickup

I was almost home this morning from work when a lamp out light came on. The indicated light came on just under the speedometer. I was half asleep waiting to make a turn and this alarm starting going off. "Lamp Out" I've never heard of this ..... Can some one please school me

Lamp out

Mine did this. It was one of the rear tail lights that burnt out. I thought this was a good feature to have. Check your lights all around.

There was a thread a while back, in the third generation forum, about issues with the tail light bulbs. I had a problem with my "lamp out" coming on often. It was a loose connection between the lamp contacts and the contacts in the socket. I bent the prongs inward to give more clamping force and had no more problems, then later converted to flatbed with LED lights.

Check your tail light bulb sockets.

I've had one that kept coming on/going off... found a bulb with a bad element that would make contact part of the time giving an intermittent "lamp out"...

good point on the contact issue. but what if the top bulb on both tail lights is out only when i hit the brakes... . when i have the parking lights on , all bulbs are working... ... ... . #@$%!

One of mine was the brake light. Stupid me had a hard time because at nite all the bulbs worked. A friend was following me one night and mentioned I only had one brake light. Well duh. I still havent fixed it.

Its been a while since I had stock tail lights assemblies, but IIRC, the top does turn signals and the bottom does brakes lights... and both top and bottom serve as tail lights.

Don't forget to check the turn signals and the front marker lights...
