Hello everyone. I have started doing some research into a new project. I want to build a fast street truck out of a 2wd dually. My problem is that the BIG torque numbers that will be made are going to be hard to put down. Here is my idea... build a phantom dually with one 15 inch rear wheel per side. But I am having problems finding wheels... . and a size for the tires (most big tires 18 inches or more are all 15 inch wheels) does anyone have any suggestions on making my dreams of a fast street looking truck with good traction a reality???

Please help

this is what I am looking for:

wheels = singles out back

possible 15"

and a brake solution because I do not think 15" wheels will fit around the stock brakes

Thanks in advance

Excellent Idea,, my truck will probably be that way one day,, unless I sell it :D Then I might have an '03 like that :D

ANyway... You are right,, 15's won't fit over the stock drum brakes...

Anybody tell me what time it is now? BOMB time!

Shave the fins off,, 15's now fit. I'd watch the backspace on a dually, but I'm nearly postive this works on a 3/4.

Tell me what's up,, PM me,, I'm interested in this project,, it's been a little dream of mine but, $$ prohibits :(

BTW, Fast Street truck. Relative, but I would run a 4. 10 gear, Automatic with a Gear Vendors Overdrive. Twin turbos Propane NOS and HUGE injectors, O-Ring the head, and a Blue Chip FMS, or Power Edge Drag COMP. Oh yah,, and a PDR, or DD cam.

My $. 01 :D

BTW,, Where do you live ?? What year truck?

Stockton Wheel makes a super single wheel to replace the two dually wheels.

You can also get Hoosier drag slicks in a 16 inch size. In the spring they are soming out with a 16" dia street performance tire.

This is something I am considering as well.

Hey guys thanks for the quick reponse.

I plan on going with twin turbos a built auto big fuel and nitrous, I want to make this truck look like a really mean street truck... . the only diffeence is this one will back up looks with LOTS of power. I am also going to try to go and talk to eagle wheels and see if they would punch out a couple of singles. If anyone is interested just email me at -- email address removed --

The truck is a 2001 balck sport dually

2wd

You will need to talk with the tire manufactures about the tires. Any tire they have in their catalog would be for a car and designed for a lighter weight. You will need to make sure the tire is designed for the weight of your truck.

As far as traction if you are keeping the stock suspension you will need to check out something like "Slide-A-Link" or "Cal-Track". If you are only going to use the truck for racing you might want to contact Eaton Springs and get a mono leaf spring.

Good Luck

Put a single disk brake on the driveshaft right at the differential, or at the transmission output if you make a slip yoke eliminator kit. Getting rid of the rotating mass of the heavy drums will help acceleration too.
