After finding the right size for the T-case fill plug (10mm Allen), I went to pull the plug, but saw that when my friendly 5-start steeler service man replaced my T-case output shaft seal ($300 total bill), they pretty much stripped out the fill plug.

I figured I could either:

1. ) Drill it out (Pain) and put in a new one

2. ) JB Weld a 10mm allen wrench in there, take the plug out, then replace the plug with a new one.

Do you guys think the JB Weld and allen wrench trick would work?

Your certainly have the problems today aint ya? The JB thing would probobly work, but try the next size allen wrench first, smack it in there with a hammer, that may work,it has fer me in the past. Is the plug in there "flush"? If not try a pair of vise-grips. Or one more idea, try a chisel on the edge of the plug, and tap it with a hammer. Ya startin' to see a hammer trend here, I allways say "don't force it,use a bigger hammer"... words to live by.

Good luck, Rob

azcummins, What about going back to the dealer and complaining. They screwed it up, let them give you a new one.

BTW: I have always just used a 3/8 extension on a ratchet to loosen the plugs. Its a perfect fit. Never had it slip once. I didn't even know it was a 10mm allen. :)

HEMI-

I'd go back to the dealer, but they did it over a month ago so I figured they blame me saying I did it. Then again, the seal THEY put in a month ago is leaking already so I could get ****** about that. Can't really leave the truck for a day though now that I have a summer job building barns... I should point my finger at them though.

RAM- The phrase you are looking for is "BFH" or "Big F----ing Hammer!" :D

I'll try the next size up and it that doesn't work, JB Weld time.

other ideas

If you have torx bits try tapping a close size in to hole I done that lots of times or if plug is REALLY in there and if you have welder weld nut to plug if clean weld it is a permenent repair use the nut from there on to remove plug just some other ideas

GOOD LUCK

Heat....

will do wonders. When I have a pipe plug rounded in a steel case,I'll heat it cherry and let it cool. It is then usually finger tight. Same principle works in aluminum but do not get it too hot. Sometimes all you need to do is rap it a few times with a hammer. Welding a nut on accomplishes the same thing(heats and cools with the weld). Some people don't like using the "smoke wrench",but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do;) ... . Doug
