12 Valve In A Dakota

Okay took 2 good days to take the donor 91. 5 CTD, Getrag 4x4 apart for the crew cab.

I have a question about the Getrag, Im going with the NV5600 transmission and was wondering what side of the world do I disconnecet the NP205 from the Getrag.

Is that a "transfer case adapter where the linkage for the transfer case bolts to with the 3 bolts? Or is that part of the Getrag itself?

Just want to make sure I dont sell off any part I will not be needing in the future.

Ill have to dig the two trannys and the transfer case from the back of the garage and have a good look see here.

Just figured I would ask any experts here first.

Thanks

Paul

I'm not sure it matters, the adapter from the old trany I don't think will work on the new one to mate the 205 to it. In fact I was going to ask you how you planed to do that! Sounds like a TC off a newer dodge, and swap out the dana 60 might be the easy way to go.

Try these guys........

http://www.drivetrain.com/

They sold me the shifter bracket for my setup, NP205 & NV4500.

I am sure they can help you. My 92 NP205 bolted up to the 98 NV4500, using the 98 t-case adaptor. I had to leave the rear output seal out of the transmission so the coupler sleeve would slide into it, but retained the one in the front of the t-case. I was told by several that this is the way to do it, and I haven't had any problems yet, so... .....

I also had to fabricate a new transmission crossmember, as the 98 t-case adaptor is configured differently than a first gens.

Hope it helps (to know you're not the only nut case out there).
