it's not that bad

just chase the threads with a tap and clean them up all should be well

i have seen a lot worse!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful not to get metal chips in the housing. Might want to remove the boot and intercooler pipe. Locktite makes several products to secure the elbow if the threads are to bad to tap. also a nipple sometimes has more threads. Nipple+coupler+elbow=ugly but functional.

Do they make Helicoils in ....

pipe threads?

Taking the "elbow" off below the turbo is a good idea. Be sure to cover the tube to the intercooler, and blow through the intake side of the compressor housing when you are finished.

Update...

I looked all around and researched and found that they do not make a helicoil for 1/8" pipe thread, the smallest they go down to is 1/4". With that in mind I decided to tap it. I found a 1/8" pipe tap from Vermont America at my local CarQuest. I ran it through and it came out just fine.

Thanks

BigDan:)

That is for the whole kit plus 12 inserts. It includes tap, drill, inset tools locktite and anice carry case. I's expensive, but when you really need it, it's worth it. The previous job I had we would use the kits constantly, and the off brands couldn't keep up.

Oh yeah, the price is probably more beacause that wasw out of catalog 103. Ithink they are on catalog 107 now
