Does anyone out there have strobes in the front marker lights, vs. the head lights?

I am a firefighter, and work with ems. I would like to install the new Whelen strobe kit 6 outlet 90 watt with hide a way strobes, and looking for suggestions.

I have strobes in my marker lights and it has been a great addition to my truck at intersections. The install was really easy, I drilled the hole at the top which left enough room for the wires to feed back through the same hole that the factory wires come through. I did silicone the heck out of them so that moisture would not get in. My only suggestion is not to by colored bulbs because they are so brite that you cant tell that they are colored. Besides the white bulbs are cheaper. I hope that this helps.

ffpara, I have mine in my tow truck and I got them from Galls. A huge selection and they are fairly inexpensive and easy to install. Hope that helps

i did get my strobes from galls and they have been good. I just would not spend the money on blue or red bulbs because they are so brite that you really cant see the color in them. The bulbs that are in my tail lights are white and reflect very well in the red lens. Galls has a good product and great customer service I would deal with them any time. :)

I also have them in my marker lights in the front and rear. From a distance the fronts look a little blue. I work with a construction crew and put them in my truck for my own safety. The guys I work for don't even know what a flashlight is let alone a strobe. I got them from Northern Tools. Forget right now what I paid for them but they have paid for themselves more than once.

PM TStetson. He had a set on his truck at Macomb (near Detroit) that had all us epileptics (sp?) goin' nuts.

Sorry I cannot help with pics, but there is a guy on our department who has the same kit you are speaking of on his Dodge gasser. Side markers, headlights, and taillights and it really lights up the truck at night. You would have to be blind to miss him. During the day they are not as impressive. Still visible, but they definitely do not have the same impact. BTW - His strobes are all clear.

Check out Federal Signal's new Silver Series strobe kit supposed to have a smaller box then the Whelen. Mark

Check with your local DMV or do some searching on the web.

THESE MAY NOT BE LEGAL!

Historically in NYS, cops have generally ignored the laws on the books concerning "emergency" lighting on private vehicles. Recently, however, I have heard of cops cracking down on guys with illegal strobes and light bars on their private vehicles. In most of these cases the driver was breaking some other more serious law (speeding, blowing stops, reckless driving).

NYS law allows for ONE (1) light. That means one bulb (i. e tear drop).

REMEMBER if you violate any traffic laws and you cause or are involved in an accident, YOU CAN BE SUED and will likely loose.

That goes for when you're in the BRT's too. Red lights and sirens do NOT exempt you (at least in NYS) from liability.

Just play it safe and live to respond on another day.

Here's a thread for you to read on these.

I like mine, but I gotta tell ya, strobes or not there are idiots that won't see you no matter what lights you use.

I have switched to a Nova RPM and use Red tubes in the front markers, clear tubes in the rear tail lenses, red linear tubes in the quad cab side windows, and wig-wags in the headlights. I also have an arrow stick in the rear window. It lights up pretty good, but people still don't see it.

One of my pet-peeves around here is the kids running around with them cause they're fashionable.
