I am to be in Charlottesvile Friday for work, and am staying in Waynesboro... Woke up this morning to a CEL on in my truck.
Idle is fine, but the throttle is Very slow to respond to the pedal... And once it does, it Runs up slowly on its own to about 2500rpm and then cuts back to idle abruptly.. Will idle down the road smooth, just runs the throttle up if I give it Any pedal at all.

Starts a tad slower than normal(I just bought it last week, but it started quick then and I've got about 500miles on it since purchase with No issues), NO smoke.

2003, 6spd, 185k, Has 4" straight pipe exhaust, AFE intake, no other engine mods(that I can tell)..it did have at least gauges aT one time, as there is an EGT probe port, plugged on the exhaust manifold.

I had codes read today and had random low voltage codes for fan clutch, lift pump(it has an air dog frame mount with filter/separator, and a couple ABS sensor codes(ABS light not on..?).
I suspected corrosion causing random voltage issue, so I sprayed all the connectors I could find and unplug with electrical contact cleaner.
No luck...
Also put new fuel filter, and separator on it, just in case....
No luck...

Took it to a shop and they weren't able to get to it till tomorrow(Friday)... So I sit and wait for them to figure it out...

I have read a bunch on the FCA, but nothing that seems to fit my symptoms...

Any other thoughts? I feel trapped here, out of town, and at the mercy of a small repair shop....

Thank you for the lead.....but, That is from a 2nd gen.... Is it the same for 3rd gen as well?

I will go to the shop first thing in the morning and give it a try...

What would cause the APPs to act up?
What is an APPS? Lol

It is the "accelerator pedal position sensor" but I don't think it applies to third generations. Maybe someone will chime in who knows. bg

APPS is under the driver side battery, hard to find item, All these trucks starting in 1/98 have an APPS.

You should have codes for APPS if that is it.

Ok, no APPS code... They found the fan clutch to be pulling so many volts that it was wreaking havoc on the other systems..
Fan clutch disconnected, problem is gone. Made it all the way back to TN with no issues. Never got over 200* on the temp gauge.

Looks like I'll be doing and R&R on a fan clutch next week! Lol.

Thank you for the tips and quick answers!
