Manifold and Turbo off of GM 6.5L

4-71 h.p. & torque

Went up to my mountain property yesterday. The driveway looked a little sticky, but at last minute tryed to drive in. What was I thinking! Not four wheel drive and heavy front end sunk like a stone.

Have you ever noticed the more people that get involved in a unsticking, the more likely it is to break something? Got into property drive to a high spot and spun out, guy with a small four wheel drive pulls me to end of drive and then into ditch. Told him to stop at end of drive. Oh well, two more dings in pickup and cap missing of of back running board. Worse than anything, it was a Ford that pulled me out of ditch! :( Bad day... ... ...

I had a Ford pull me out once too. Well kinda, he was the anchor that I hooked my winch to. My sister wanted to go camping and since I had 4wd I was selected to get the boat and TT from her back yard. I get the boat out ok but in the process I really softened the wet ground. While backing in to get the TT I sunk to the axles. Bro-in-law was at the store and I so wanted out before he saw me.

No such luck, he came pulling up grinning and asked if the poor lil Dodge needed a pull. The 460 did not even budge my truck. I doubled lined my winch and he sat on pavement while I winched my way out.

So does that count for the Ford or does it prove it is only good for an anchor? At least I got it out before my cousin came over with a Chevy crew cab with 44's on it. He came over just as I was going all out slinging mud, pulling the TT, on my second attemp to get the TT out. :D

Lance,

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I think the worst thing is that you got pulled out by a F*rd:rolleyes:. It's a real mess up there because of all the much needed snow we got. Don't worry though I almost got stuck going up to a friends house who lives in the Aspen Rose subdivision. Luckily though I had chains :D Don't want no Ford to pull me out:D :p

CF, sorry to hear about that. It sucks to have a Ford pull you out.

I am starting to think that the extra cost of the 4x4 I bought is "ego insurance" hehe. .

Glad you and your rig are fine now. .

Having grown up in the ranching country of North Central Texas, I remember what the old cowboys said about 4x4 when it first became available on pickups - "Yeah, it's really great. Now I can get stuck twice as far away from the road or bunkhouse!" :(

:D:DFord. Boat anchor. Good plan. I can't think of a better use. :D:D

I am 36 and have driven only 4x4's since I was 16. In a normal year I need 4wd 3-4 times but it is still worth it. I turn into a different person when I get stuck and it's not pretty

Both sentences are very true for me too!:-laf

Last winter I slid off the side of a narrow two lane road into a fairly deep ditch, and was pulled out by a kid driving a stock jeep with the factory all season tires on it.

I also had my plow on the truck which is another 600+ lbs on the front.

It was quite a sight to see.
