I am going to put a set a twins on my truck, I've heard that I want studs instead of stock bolts. I've been searching for 'exhaust studs' kinda haven't had much luck.

Am I going to want stainless or ?... ... .

Heard you put sealant on block side, and anti-sieze on nut side.

I can't find any arp or similar?

First determine the size, thread pitch and overall length. Once you have that information there many suppliers on the net that can supply what you need.

One note... . You may be tempted to get the very hardest and strongest stud you can find, but the harder the more brittle it's inherent nature is. That combined with the constant heat cycles and you can see why it is important to get the right one.

Get the sizing information and call ARP. They may have one that works for another application.

I bought my exhaust manifold-to-block stud set from Nathan (Idaho CTD) when I bought his MPI twins. They weren't ARP, but they do the job.

I used anti-sieze on both ends of the stud.

If you use the 'search' feature you'll find all the info you need. Rweis did a pretty good write up on it. I got mine at an auto parts store.

Thanks for the info everybody!

I wasn't aware that there was so much to bolts and studs for exhaust. That's interesting hardware (Belleville washers made of inconel for heat, Drake nuts, stainless studs). I'm going to go the 2 studs route, and keep stock for the rest-I didn't appreciate the engineering (and efficiency moneywise) that went into their reasons for sleeve washers and all the rest.

Rweis's search for studs that would fit on the ATS manifold and yet not stretch (and yield) because ot the cast manifild expanding and contracting takes up about 10 pages :--)
